I have been living for a few years in Davao and enjoy it very much. The idea of my own news blog started with my parents who used to ask me very often 'What is happening now in Davao?' over the phone. So, I want to dedicate this news blog to all my folks abroad and all the other readers who appreciate updated news about Davao's culture, entertainment, their vivid economic growth, their business sector, their local politics, their places to eat and go to and updates on education and health issues concerning us, the Dabawenyos.

It is official. Sara Duterte-Carpio will not be running for re-election as mayor of Davao City, giving way to her father, the incumbent Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, to run again for mayor.

“I will give way to Vice Mayor Rody Duterte who will run again for mayor,” Sara Duterte said in a text message sent to local reporters here last Friday, October 5. Although, she is eligible to be elected for two more terms, Sara Duterte-Carpio decides to return to work as a lawyer in a firm after her term.

Sara Duterte-Carpio is the first female mayor of Davao City. Before her election, she worked as a court attorney at the Supreme court. In 2007, she won her first mayoral election for Davao. In 2010, she won over former House Speaker Prospero “Boy” Nograles in the mayoral race.
